Wealthpoint is a co-operative owned by a network of more than 50 financial services advisory businesses, operating from more than 70 locations across New Zealand. With over 150 financial advisers covering life, health and general insurance as well as investments, KiwiSaver and mortgages, Wealthpoint is one of New Zealand’s largest independent financial adviser groups.

A new name, a long history…

Wealthpoint was formed out of an adviser association that was first set up in 1921 to provide business support and professional services to AMP adviser businesses. The majority of our members share this common history and our relationships with members mirror those they have with their clients – built on trust, integrity and with a long-term focus.

In 2018 the adviser association began work to set up Wealthpoint as a new Co-Operative entity. Many new product suppliers have been added and new member businesses have been attracted to what is now one of New Zealand’s most unique and dynamic financial services adviser networks.

Despite these many changes, the core offering remains the same – financial advisers connected to their local communities and providing sound, trusted advice through strong, long-term relationships.

We stand behind our advice

Wealthpoint will operate as a licensed Financial Advice Provider (FAP) when new regulatory reforms being introduced to the financial services sector take effect from mid-2020. This means that Wealthpoint will take regulatory responsibility for the financial advice provided by advisers.

Wealthpoint has systems and processes in place that underpin the advice given by advisers to their clients. These include:

Professional Standards Manual
All Wealthpoint advisers operate under the guidance of a Professional Standards Manual. This outlines an industry best practice Advice Process, Wealthpoint’s Approved Products List and general conduct standards.

Wealthpoint Practicing Certificate
All Wealthpoint advisers must keep a current Practicing Certificate which demonstrates completion of product training and other professional development requirements.

Advice audits and Quality Assurance
A selection of files from all Wealthpoint advisers will be audited annually. This ensures high standards are maintained with professional development opportunities quickly identified and delivered.
